Once upon a time, at our very own Spring Geequinox 2018, two destined-to-meet individuals stood across from one another in our u-shaped Costume Contest line and didn’t acknowledge each other even once…but one of them definitely caught the eye of the other! When the next convention called for a road trip to Animaritime, the Galaxy conspired to bring these two Guardians together and partner up! With Star-Lord (Simon Squire) at the helm, he and Gamora (Alana Coolen) sang Disney and ‘Weird Al’ songs all the way to Fredericton & back (Gamora may not dance, but she can hit a piercing soprano note!) With Simon’s honed skills in 3D printing & computer technology, and Alana’s ever-evolving ability to turn everyday items into cosplay-level props & accessories, this (now) married couple have produced some memorable cosplays together - an "A-poke-lyptic" Ash & Misty, a Guardians/Avengers team-up with Alana’s children as Thor & Miss Captain America and, when Alana broke her ankle one month before Hal-Con 2019, she arrived at the convention in a wheelchair as a hilarious "Broken Black Widow".
